Attention Assist 2 in the Econic.

The Attention Assist 2 of the Econic analyses visual attention and can alert the driver with an acoustic signal and a visual display if they show signs of diminishing alertness. This tells them to take a break in good time, especially on long journeys.

Monitoring alertness.

Microsleep can be a major risk, especially on long journeys. The Econic’s Attention Assist 2 can help prevent this. It continuously tracks the driver’s visual attention and uses it to create an individual profile to detect fatigue. Instead of relying primarily on parameters such as lane keeping or steering behaviour as before, an integrated infrared camera visually records the head and pupil position.

The system analyses the gaze direction as well as the movement of the eyelids and uses this camera data to calculate the driver’s fatigue level. The driver can be alerted to signs of inattentiveness, increased blinking, yawning or drooping eyelids. The warning appears as a display on the screen of the instrument cluster - accompanied by a visual and acoustic warning. 

From a data protection point of view, this is a closed system. The data remains available for 15 minutes and is then irrevocably deleted by the system.

Attention Assist 2 is installed as standard in the Econic and it warns of possible fatigue or inattentiveness to thereby help prevent accidents. The system monitors the driver’s visual attention to the traffic situation and can help them to better assess their own fatigue and take breaks in good time if necessary. This increases not only the safety of the driver, but also that of all road users.
