eEconic fleet paves the way for Karlsruhe's sustainable waste disposal concept.
Karlsruhe is setting a standard for future-oriented urban development – the expansion of the eEconic fleet and a holistic infrastructure concept from Mercedes-Benz Trucks enable the municipal waste disposal company ‘Team Sauberes Karlsruhe’ to efficiently and effectively combine reliability and environmental friendliness.
From test to standard.
‘Emma’ – that's the affectionate name given by the ‘Team Sauberes Karlsruhe’ (TSK) team to the first fully electric eEconic in their fleet. After a week of measuring consumption on the streets of Karlsruhe, it was clear that ‘Emma’ not only impresses with its proven vehicle concept, but also with its values. TSK now has seven eEconics in service – and plans to expand the fleet to a total of 18 vehicles.
A decision of this magnitude does not come out of the blue – because this is not TSK's first contact with the fully electric Mercedes-Benz truck. In the run-up to this, the makers in orange tested the practicality of the alternative drive system in waste collection operations for over a year using a test vehicle – and were impressed.
What makes the Karlsruhe project so special? In addition to the proven strengths of the eEconic, the tailor-made infrastructure concept developed by Mercedes-Benz Trucks eConsulting and S&G Automobil AG enables the best possible performance and utilisation of the vehicles within the Karlsruhe operation.
