eEconic fleet paves the way for Karlsruhe's sustainable waste disposal concept.
Karlsruhe is setting standards for future-oriented urban development: the expansion of the eEconic fleet and a comprehensive infrastructure concept from Mercedes-Benz Trucks enable urban waste disposal company “Team Sauberes Karlsruhe” to efficiently and effectively combine reliability and environmental friendliness.
From testing to standard solution.
“Emma” – that’s the name the staff at “Team Sauberes Karlsruhe” (TSK) lovingly gave the first all-electric eEconic in their fleet. Following a week-long trial to gauge consumption on Karlsruhe's roads, one thing became clear: “Emma” not only impresses with a proven vehicle concept, but also with results. In the meantime, TSK has seven eEconics in operation – the plan is to expand the fleet to a total of 18 vehicles.
A decision of this magnitude is no coincidence – because it is not the first time TSK has been dealing with the fully electric Mercedes-Benz truck. Waste disposal staff had already been testing the practicality of the alternative drive concept in refuse collection operations for over a year with a test vehicle – and they were blown away.
What makes Karlsruhe's project so special? In addition to the proven strengths of the eEconic, the tailor-made infrastructure concept provided by Mercedes-Benz Trucks eConsulting and S&G Automobil AG enables the best possible performance and utilisation of the vehicles at this Karlsruhe-based company.
