25 years of Unimog Club Gaggenau: more Unimog isn't possible.

Ever since it was founded in 1993, the Unimog Club Gaggenau e.V. (UCG) revolves around the legendary all-rounder from Mercedes-Benz. The club now has over 6,600 members and is active in 34 countries – from Canada to China. In June, on the occasion of its 25th birthday, the largest Mercedes-Benz Classic brand club celebrated a superlative anniversary in and around the Unimog's birthplace.

Everyone who came to Gaggenau in the Murg Valley on the festival weekend was able to experience the most famous commercial vehicle in the world in all variations and configurations. From the lovingly maintained classic vehicle of the 1950s to the current model series with the latest technology on board. It transpired that even older universal implement carriers developed in Gaggenau are still used by their owners today for a variety of tasks – for example, as agricultural, forestry or transport vehicles.

Unimog highlights non-stop.

The programme was as versatile as the Unimog itself. There were various offers for young and old throughout the weekend, which was blessed with bright sunshine: from presentations by experts and exhibitions at the Unimog Museum, right up to the ecumenical closing service. Lovers of vintage vehicles were able to display their old treasures, and live demonstrations showed Unimogs in action.

The Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks show grounds in Ötigheim were open to the public on all three days of the festival, and in the newly built workshop of the Unimog Museum, a Boehringer Unimog was dismantled and reassembled right before the visitors' eyes. And a real Hollywood star could also be seen: the "Hound", the original vehicle from the action blockbuster Transformers 5, attracted many curious glances.

The Unimog Racing Team, winner of the off-road rally in Wroclaw, showed that a Unimog can do a lot more than just serve as a versatile commercial vehicle. On the grounds of the former Bad Rotenfels swimming pool, event visitors were impressed by a demonstration that showed there is a real racing machine inside a Unimog and that it can even do drifting.

There was also a lot going on at the Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks stand in front of the Unimog Museum.
Gaggenau was once again the centre of the Unimog world in June.
Visitors could already see the two "floating" Unimogs from a distance.
Record: about 800 Unimogs were on show at the festival weekend.
Of course, the "Hound", the "Transformers 5" star based on the Unimog, just had to be part of the celebrations.
The Unimog Racing Team impressively demonstrated that the Unimog not only gets through everywhere, but also has the capacity to be extremely fast.

Commitment to a good cause.

As so often, the members of the Unimog Club Gaggenau showed the highest level of commitment. More than 100 helpers made the smooth running of the event possible and organized a real Unimog folk festival.

The anniversary meeting of the Unimog Club Gaggenau was also used as an occasion to do something charitable. To this end, the dedicated team auctioned off a complete collection of the member magazine UNIMOG Heft'l including four rare special issues. For the benefit of the organisation "Wohnen der Lebenshilfe", it changed hands for a proud 1500 euros. Rainer Hildebrandt, First Chairman of the Unimog Club Gaggenau e.V. (UCG), increased the amount to 2500 euros.

Honour to whom honour is due: UCG's founding chairman Michael Wessel also had good reason to be delighted: Martin Daum, Daimler Board Member responsible for Trucks and Buses, presented the Ottenau-based Unimog enthusiast with the Silver Award for outstanding achievements for the Mercedes-Benz brand. This prize is only awarded once a year by the Daimler Group for outstanding achievements.
