The Unimog comes with all-wheel drive, differential lock and the TireControl plus tyre pressure control system, making it perfect for off-road use in rough, mountainous terrain. Its transmission can also be operated automatically or manually. This enables the driver to keep control of the Unimog even in the most difficult conditions.

The extreme off-road Unimog also gives fire brigade crews the benefit of ex-works heat protection for all critical components and lines as well as innovative extinguishing technology on the roof and all-round surround lighting.
Added to this is the Unimog chassis' extreme torsional flexibility, achieved by equipping the engine, transmission and cab with special suspension systems. But the UHE is not only designed for use in the forest. It is also indispensable for penetrating crisis zones where overland routes have become inaccessible due to natural disasters, such as forest fires, floods and earthquakes.

The Unimog can both save lives and transport work equipment for rescue purposes. What's more, its fording capability of up to 1.2 m lets it drive where other vehicles would get out of their depth. Not for nothing is this model used as a rescue vehicle all over the world.
