Happy 75th Anniversary.

Impressions of the Unimog anniversary weekend in Gaggenau.

From the production plant in Wörth am Rhein via Karlsruhe, the 75 Unimog convoy made its way to Gaggenau. The occasion for this impressive spectacle was the 75th anniversary of the legendary vehicle. On the first weekend in September, the success story of the Unimog, which has already lasted for three quarters of a century, was extensively celebrated. And what better location for such an anniversary than the long-standing home of the universal motor vehicle?

Two is better than one.

The first Unimog produced by Daimler rolled off the production line in 1951 at the Gaggenau plant, where today the Unimog-Museum brings the fascination of the legend to life. But since prototypes were already being built in Schwäbisch Gmünd in 1946, a big double anniversary was on the agenda in 2021: 75 years of the Unimog, 70 of them with the star on the bonnet.

Strong community: club, museum and manufacturer celebrate the anniversary.

This had to be celebrated in a fitting manner. Organised by the Unimog Club Gaggenau, the Unimog-Museum and Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks, the 75 models of various model series and from all decades could be marvelled in the outdoor area around the museum grounds. For those interested, specialist lectures and free guided tours were also offered.

The Corso participants, who had all made the pilgrimage to the birthplace of the Unimog in their own vehicles, were also invited to demonstrations at the Ötigheim test site - as a small reward for the occasionally long journey.

The myth lives on.

A lot of time has passed since the first Unimog saw the light of day in 1946. But it was, is and remains the all-rounder with no alternative. Whether in agriculture, forestry or as a transport vehicle: the Unimog mastered every challenge with flying colours even 75 years ago. A success story that continues to this day.
