Fertilising fields in New Zealand with the Zetros.

The green island: that's the name New Zealand is often given by New Zealanders and tourists alike. And quite right too, because the group of islands has a spectacular range of flora and fauna. And what is important for these ideal conditions to be retained for a long time to support high-yielding agriculture: responsible use of resources and technical solutions for sustainable farming. The countryside is incomparably beautiful, and one particular feature is its extremely steep unmetalled roads which few trucks can navigate. One of the most outstanding of those few is the Mercedes-Benz Zetros, which thanks to its excellent offroad competence can also cope with the most extreme challenges. Philip Wareing, whose company specialises in spreading fertiliser and in freight transport, has four of these special trucks with the striking bonnet in his fleet.

The Managing Director of Philip Wareing Ltd cares a lot about his land and about maintaining it. Interfering with nature should be restricted to what is absolutely necessary. All work that needs to be done should be dealt with quickly and at the same time with care and attention. For spreading fertiliser, this means: keeping the number of journeys to a minimum. It's an easy task for the Zetros. Thanks to its large capacity, up to 6 t of fertiliser can be transported on each trip. That's about the quantity needed for an area of up to 120 hectares, depending on the type of fertiliser and the desired amount.

Ready for the challenges of the agricultural industry.

Philip Wareing Ltd's four new 240 kW (326 hp) strong Zetros tick all the boxes. Equipped with permanent all-wheel drive and steel-sprung 13-t planetary hub reduction axles with drum brakes, the robust short-nosed trucks are really tough. For the contractor, Engineering Repairs Ltd from Ashburton developed the right solution. The fitted fertiliser containers can distribute lime and granular fertiliser, and also urea. Philip Wareing and his team want to make sure that the company's agricultural land and pastures retain the green colour typical for New Zealand.
