Simply the Be(a)st.

The Zetros 6x6 is the ultimate tanker for the Finnish mining industry.

Open-cast mining at Kevitsa, one of Finland’s largest mineral deposits, is a back-breaking job: situated beyond the Arctic Circle, temperatures here range from -40°C to +30°C. Then there's the rough terrain and gravel tracks to deal with. Refuelling the heaviest vehicles in the world in this environment requires a robust and reliable truck: the Zetros 6x6 – or ‘The Beast’, as Boliden Mine has christened its blue tanker from Daimler Truck.

Hard shell, easy access.

Several million tonnes of ore are processed into metal concentrates in Finnish open-cast mines every year – here, the Zetros with its unique technology and robust design withstands the tough demands every day. And makes it easier for its drivers: its low entry and folding bonnet make maintenance and access easier. With its low height and torsion-free cab mounting, this truck is a true pleasure to drive – and uneven roads are its speciality.

Resilience and ergonomics.

Ari-Pekka Oikarinen, Zetros driver at the Boliden Mine, says: "Even with a full load, you hardly notice anything when you drive up the ramps. The retarder makes it easy to control the speed when driving downhill. The chassis is excellent. Even at high speeds, you hardly feel any unevenness."

Powerful and robust.

The Zetros is equipped with a 375 kW (510 hp) engine. Its reinforced ladder-type frame and auxiliary frame with double 3-point mounting keep the body torsionally rigid. And it masters any incline with ease: with an approach/departure angle of up to 35° and high ground clearance, it's ideal for difficult terrain.

The tanker is perfectly equipped for challenging terrain and unpaved roads, as its permanent all-wheel drive and high torsional flexibility guarantee optimum traction. To add to all that, this Zetros also boasts optimised suspension, reinforced shock absorbers, lockable differentials and a two-speed transfer case with off-road mode. Drivers get to choose between a 16-speed manual transmission or an Allison automatic transmission.

Fuel and high-tech.

The blue beast's job is to fill up its larger workmates with fuel: equipped with a 10,000-litre tank and a 500-litre AdBlue tank, it has the right fuel on board for everyone. The Dealex Stella refuelling system puts safety first, with an automatic hose guide. It's always networked, as with its RFID antennas and GSM/LTE antennas, data can be exchanged with the base and other vehicles.

The Zetros 6x6 is built for extreme conditions. Its reliability on difficult terrain and its state-of-the-art refuelling technology make it the ideal vehicle for tough applications – it's simply The Beast!
