A business card on
four wheels.

The mountain calls: an Unimog with a special vehicle wrap on the road in the Bayerischer Wald region.

Green fir trees, blue skies – where you see the words Bayerischer Wald, you'll find a Mercedes-Benz Special Truck. At the 2019 Unimog Day held at the Großer Arber, the highest mountain of the range, the all-rounder set off in bright sunshine on its first trip as a business card for the Bayerischer Wald tourist region.

A regional look with recognition value.

The idea: to brand the special vehicles in the tourist area with a regional look. And in turn promote the region. It took a whole three months to develop the special design of the vehicle wrap à la Bayerischer Wald with its panorama landscape for the Unimog. Claus Artmayer, head of municipal technology at Beutlhauser, was inspired at an international level. His role model: the Union Jack Unimog in England, which, due to social media in particular, has become familiar to a large audience over the last two years. The design is popular: further vehicles with the wrap design have been ordered. "And so the Bayerischer Wald is even brighter," Günter Reimann from the East Bavarian Tourist Association is delighted with the Mercedes-Benz all-rounder with its unmistakeable colours.

Fit for the forest.

However it's not only appearance that counts. With a mountain range around 100 km long and 1456 m above sea level, the Bayerischer Wald provides optimum conditions to duly test the robust Unimog. So it was no wonder that at the presentation at the Arber mountain, the Special Truck showed more than just its brightly coloured wrap in the best light: even when it gets bumpy, the powerful all-rounder hangs in there. And proves that its forestry and municipal technology can impress all the year round thanks to a diverse range of possible operations.

In the winter of 2019/2020 it will be in operation gritting and clearing snow above all in the town of Regen at the centre of the Bayerischer Wald region. In 2020 Unimog fans will also be able to admire it at various events. For example the Unimog Friends at Lohberg will be celebrating their club anniversary and the record for the highest density of Unimog vehicles in Germany. There are 62 Unimog vehicles for 2100 citizens in this village in Lower Bavaria. The brightly coloured Unimog from the Bayerischer Wald will be one of the guests of honour.
