1,000 reasons
to choose electricity.

eEconic and eActros: Denmark’s most used electric truck.

More than 1,000 electric trucks are now registered in Denmark. Daimler Truck is behind the two most used models on Danish roads: the eEconic and the eActros.

A clear signal.

The 1000th electric truck is more than just a round number. It shows that the electrification of heavy-duty transport in Denmark has really taken off. It is no longer an exception, but part of everyday life on Danish roads.

Specifically, this means: the eEconic accounts for nearly 20% of Denmark’s total fleet of electric trucks, with the eActros following closely behind at just under 19%.

Hessel Trucks imports both models to Denmark - and also the FUSO eCanter. Together, the company accounts for more than 40% of all electric trucks on Danish roads. One reason for this is the electric axle from Mercedes-Benz - it contributes to low energy consumption and high energy efficiency. The result: a long range and impressive overall cost-effectiveness.

From waste disposal vehicles to long-haul transport.

By 2026, electric trucks in Denmark already account for 7% of all newly registered trucks over 7,300 kg. The beginning was the electrification of waste collection in the municipalities. Today, the eEconic is in particular being used by numerous local municipalities, operating locally with zero CO₂e emissions.

The electric trucks also take on tasks in regional distribution haulage and international transport. Ranges of up to 600 km, such as in the eActros 600, make this possible. Targeted subsidy programmes also make the switch easier for freight forwarders.

No pilot project.

Targeted subsidy programs also make it easier for freight forwarders to switch. For Mikael Voigt, eMobility & PR Manager at Hessel Trucks, this is a clear signal.

The electrification of heavy-duty transport is no longer a pilot project, but is an integral part of everyday life for many hauliers.

For him, the next steps depend above all on the demand from transport customers: When companies and public-sector customers opt for low-emission transport solutions, more hauliers invest in electric vehicles.

Cost-effective: Economic comparison of electric trucks.

Many freight forwarders are increasingly benefiting from the improved economic efficiency. The prerequisites are optimal charging and a mileage of at least 100,000 km per year. Then an electric truck already achieves the same or lower total cost of ownership as a diesel truck.

The steadily rising costs for fuels in recent years and the expectation of continued competitive electricity prices further improve profitability.

Quiet engine, better working environment.

In addition to economic and climate-related advantages, electric trucks also provide a better working environment. The low-noise operation reduces noise pollution in cities and improves comfort for drivers. Local emissions are completely eliminated.

The vehicles also emit significantly less CO₂ than comparable diesel trucks over the entire life cycle. This applies from production to scrapping.
