A quiet logistics
specialist.

The all-electric Mercedes-Benz eEconic 300 optimises logistics for Trumer private brewery, near Salzburg.

Every day, Thomas Gell drives beer through the alleys of Salzburg. And he does so almost without a sound. The Mercedes-Benz eEconic 300 makes this possible. Trumer private brewery in Oberturm am See has opted for an eco-friendly logistics method with its all-electric truck, bringing together regional energy, convenient operations and environmentalism.

With tradition and progress.

Trumer private brewery has stood for quality for centuries: People have been brewing beer in Obertrum for over 400 years, and the company has been family-owned for 250 years. But tradition does not mean standstill here. Today, the brewery is breaking new ground.

And the Mercedes-Benz eEconic 300 fits seamlessly into this picture: it runs quietly, cleanly and reliably. It is powered by electricity from its own photovoltaic systems, while heat for the brewing process comes from a neighbouring wood chip CHP plant. This means that the entire company does not use fossil fuels.

A truck made for the city.

The Mercedes-Benz eEconic 300 shows off its strengths to the max in dense urban traffic. Three battery packs deliver 291 kWh of effectively usable energy. For the Trumer private brewery, this enables a realistic range of around 300 km per charge. This is easily enough for several trips through Salzburg and the surrounding area. As the brewery’s truck often only needs to be loaded every few days, operations remain flexible.

With its electric drive, it doesn't disturb the city centre: no engine noise, but full power. With a maximum of 400 kW, the eEconic accelerates powerfully and in a controlled manner.

Direct vision and short distances.

The low-floor cab with its low seating position and panoramic glazing offers a clear view of the traffic situation. Modern assistance systems such as Blind Spot Assist and distance warning are able to further increase safety. The entry and exit is particularly clever: the folding door on the right-hand side opens inwards so that drivers always get out on the side facing away from traffic.

This is not only safe, but also efficient, as drivers find themselves immediately standing next to the side lifting platform of the special Wingliner body. The low step unit almost resembles a bus.

A driver with all his heart.

Beer driver Thomas Gell was initially sceptical about the electric truck, but after just a few days he was convinced. For the former firefighter, who discovered his passion for large vehicles as a volunteer, the eEconic is now the perfect workplace.

I transport beer - but I also drive a bit of the future.

Thomas Gell, Driver, Trumer Private Brewery

Ergonomics and ride comfort are particularly important to him. The folding door and Wingliner body make the driving experience so much more convenient, and he is able to avoid flowing traffic when getting in and out. He particularly appreciates the view he gets in the cab: "Cyclists, pedestrians, cars... I can see everything much better than in other trucks." Added to this is the quiet start, direct acceleration and smooth coasting through the alleys. The verdict? "There’s nothing better."

Energy in flow.

At the end of the day, the eEconic finds itself back in the yard at Trumer private brewery and is charged with electricity generated in house. Ready to start all over again the next day - quietly, cleanly and full of energy. When the city is still asleep, Thomas Gell is already on the road. With boxes, drums and a clear goal: to deliver the beer! And help protect the environment while he's at it. All with the eEconic.
