Econic stays cool.

DirectVision concept scores in urban delivery traffic.

Chatting pedestrians, fast cyclists, a large number of cars and trucks on the roads and the ever-increasing delivery traffic in towns and cities. In the middle of hectic inner-city traffic, drivers in particular need to stay cool and steer their own vehicle safely through the bustling crowds and traffic! The STEF Group, Europe's market leader for temperature-controlled transport and logistics, has now purchased an Econic 1830 in Lyon for this purpose because, thanks to the DirectVision concept, it is perfectly equipped for inner-city delivery traffic.

Taking responsibility.

STEF's goal is to provide the best-possible solutions for food deliveries in urban and suburban areas. With the new Econic, the company wants to maintain the balance between ecology, economy and responsibility for the safety of its own drivers and other road users.

Better visibility in the hectic urban hustle and bustle.

With its low-slung DirectVision cab and panoramic glazing, the Econic is exceptionally well-suited for operation in an urban environment. The maximum field of vision and the low seating position enable the driver to detect vulnerable road users more rapidly. Additional safety is provided by numerous assistance systems – such as for instance Sideguard Assist, which warns against stationary or moving obstacles on the co-driver's side.

Safety. It's in the Econic's DNA.

The Econic is optimally prepared for the particularities of inner-urban driving, and not only in terms of safety: thanks to its great manoeuvrability, its exceptional handling and good visibility it can tackle problem-free any narrow streets and alleyways or narrowed-down roadways because of roadworks or parked vehicles.

And the logistics workers can also benefit from the advantages offered by the Econic. The ergonomic access via the double-wing glass door makes frequent boarding and alighting more comfortable and height meters are significantly reduced. The cab can comfortably accommodate up to four persons.

Compelling technology – in vehicle body and superstructure.

The Econic is equipped with a 7.7-litre OM 936 six-cylinder in-line engine with an output of 220 kW/299 hp and a torque of 200 Nm from 1200 to 1600 rpm. To ensure the safe transport of temperature-sensitive foodstuffs, the refrigerated body is equipped with cryogenic technology. An electrically-driven rear-wall door facilitates the loading and unloading of the delivered goods.

The practical application for the STEF group already shows: thanks to a reliable vehicle base and clever superstructure design, drivers and Econic can stay cool even in the busy Lyon metropolitan region.
