Milling, compacting, sweeping.

The Unimog U 435 from Streicher lives up to its name.

The Unimog U 435, which the Streicher Group has purchased, fits the original name Universal-Motor-Gerät like a glove. “Because the vehicle has a full house,” says Hans-Jürgen Schwarzbauer, Head of the Machine Technology Department at the Streicher Group. And by “full house” he means any special equipment that you can possibly imagine. This is also needed, because it is the total flexibility that is required of the Unimog with its 354 hp.

The Streicher Group employs over 4,500 people at more than 30 locations. The beginnings of the internationally active company go back well over 100 years. The Streicher Group, headquartered in Deggendorf, brings together the areas of pipeline and plant engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil and structural engineering as well as the production of raw materials and building materials under one roof. In addition, the company has stakes in various companies – even a manufacturer of rides whose roller coasters are located in the world’s most trendy fun parks.

From roller coasters to road construction.

As fast as the wild rides on the “Major Rides” and “Wave Swingers” of the Zierer corporate brand are, as down-to-earth and almost in slow-motion are the colleagues at the branch in Waldmünchen. Here, the employees take care of pipeline and road construction. And that’s where the Unimog U 435 comes in, as Hans-Jürgen Schwarzbauer explains: “For public contractors, we lay cables and pipes along the roads. For this purpose, the verges are ploughed using a remote-controlled special plough and the medium is laid at a depth of 80 to 100 cm. In order to restore the verges properly and in accordance with the guidelines, we need the agile Unimog, which allows us to compact and sweep in one step.” If necessary, milling can also be done at the same time. A hydrostatic drive and the VarioPilot® transferable steering are essential for this.

It is the manoeuvrability, the high off-road capability, the fast transport speed, the powerful hydraulic performance and the flexible application options that distinguish the Unimog.

Hans-Jürgen Schwarzbauer, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Streicher Group

Manoeuvrable, strong, flexible.

Streicher has had experience with the Unimog since the 1970s. “Roughly speaking, the new one would have to be our fortieth we've purchased,” Schwarzbauer estimates. “It is the manoeuvrability, the high off-road capability, the fast transport speed, the powerful hydraulic performance and the flexible application options that distinguish the Unimog,” he enthuses. Not to forget: the compactness of the vehicle, with a wheelbase of just 3,150 mm. And because the company also builds special machines for the highest demands and special applications and always delivers them in an elegant light grey, they have ordered their Unimog in this special colour. Logical.
