Agile and flexible for hundreds of kilometres of road.
Stadtreinigung Dresden GmbH is “completely satisfied” with its newest addition to the Unimog fleet. The first Unimog that were purchased were two identical Unimog U 427s from 2019. “Stadtreinigung Dresden is the leading service provider in the state capital Dresden when it comes to cleaning and winter service. And when we received the order from the Road and Civil Engineering Office to also provide winter road maintenance services for the Schönfelder Hochland, we could no longer manage with the vehicles we had been using in the inner city. All-wheel drive, VarioPilot® transferable steering, absolute manoeuvrability and full flexibility were required for the 220 km of road now had to be covered. There was only one solution for us: the Unimog,” Sven Junghanns recalls.
We use the Unimog every day as needed – in winter service for up to seven days a week in two shifts.

The Dresdeners need the wedge plough to keep the 112,000 m² of bicycle paths at road level absolutely snow-free. “The snow has to be cleared reliably to the side, which works best with the wedge plough,” emphasises Ralf Hoffmann, fleet manager at SRD. In the summer months, the Unimog U 527 is also used for watering trees and plants or converted to a loading platform with raised sides for loading and transporting the grass clippings from the lawns of the 14 municipal outdoor swimming pools. In the summer months, the two Unimog U 427 vehicles are also used to clean the drains with a suction and flushing unit from Leistikow. “We can rinse and vacuum,” says Ralf Hoffmann.
