The secret is under the hood: the OM 936 LA engine. Instead of four cylinders, the Unimog is powered by six cylinders with a capacity of 7.7 l. With an output of 220 kW (299 hp) and a strong maximum torque of 1200 Nm. The common-rail engine belongs to the new generation of state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz engines which comply with the Euro VI emissions standard.

Despite this, the U 5030 is just as robust with great off-road capabilities. To increase traction, it features permanent all-wheel drive. The altered drivetrain provides increased driving dynamics when off-road and superior handling when travelling.
