Unimog U 530 ensures clean reflector posts.
They appear every 50 m on both sides along the streets. On the left they are marked with two dots, on the right with a white stripe. They are indispensable for road safety: guide posts not only serve to define the carriageway but also help to identify the course of the route, especially in darkness and fog. Regular inspection and cleaning is therefore crucial to road safety. In Baden-Württemberg, Germany, this responsible task is taken on by a Mercedes-Benz Special Truck: the Unimog U 530.
Productivity, efficiency and environmental friendliness, all in one vehicle.
When it comes to meeting high demands on an implement carrier, the Unimog U 530 is at the forefront. The top model combines productivity, efficiency and environmental friendliness in one vehicle. Thomas Winter, Sales Manager of the company Knoblauch GmbH in Immendingen, is convinced of this. The long-established company is active in the sale of municipal machinery and as a service provider supports cities and communities in municipal tasks. "Of course, the all-rounder Unimog must not be missing in our own vehicle fleet", says Thomas Winter.
The Unimog U 530 is efficient, versatile and yet very economical.

Double washing brush from bodybuilder Mulag.
Unimog ExpertPartner Mulag has the right attachment to the Unimog in place for this requirement. The bodybuilder's surface washing brush FWB 1600 can be easily installed on the front of the Unimog U 530 thanks to standardized interfaces. That way, the all-rounder turns into a rolling washing system. The hydraulically operated double washing brush can be easily operated by joystick from the driver's cab while driving.
Thanks to the panorama window of the Unimog, the driver always has his work area in view. With the VarioPilot® system, he can shift his sitting position and steering wheel to the right side in less than a minute. This allows him to precisely control and monitor the work of the washing brushes. Thanks to EasyDrive, the driver can easily switch between stepless and mechanical drive. This allows him to precisely and stepless regulate the speed of travel when working in hydrostatic work mode and the fast switching to the fuel-efficient manual transmission. With this, the Unimog can drive between the locations up to 89 km/h.
The washing water from the tank reaches the guide post directly, thanks to precisely adjustable nozzles and a splash guard. "There is no mess and it saves water," reports Thomas Winter. The brushes have a working width of 1.60 m, but are available in different sizes depending on the application. The Mulag-quick change fixture makes brush replacement child's play.
At the end of the Unimog mission, the reflector posts radiate in their former glory and ensure safe road conditions.
