The new Arocs 1846L for the Prague fire service.

Recently, a new Mercedes-Benz Arocs was formally handed over to the volunteer fire brigade in the Zličín district of Prague. The fire service vehicle with a WISS body is based on the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 1846L. The two-axle chassis with a 4x2 drive configuration and air-suspended rear axle impresses with its strong performance and state-of-the-art technology. With a permissible gross vehicle weight of 18 t and an engine output of 455 hp (335 kW), the vehicle is ideally equipped for demanding operations.

455 hp for when it really counts.

The heart of the vehicle is the automated Mercedes PowerShift 3 Advanced twelve-speed transmission, which has a special drive program for fire service vehicles. The Arocs is equipped as standard with a range of assistance and safety systems that offer the driver, crew and other road users a high level of comfort and safety and partly exceed the legal requirements. In addition to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and acceleration skid control (ASR), these include, for example, the ESP Stability Control Assist or the latest-generation Active Brake Assist (ABA) with pedestrian and cyclist detection. The Multimedia Cockpit Interactive features a central driver display and an additional touchscreen for intuitive control of driving and body functions.

Six men, 4,000 l, one goal.

The crew compartment is integrated into the body and offers four seats with holders for breathing apparatus. It is seamlessly connected to the air-conditioned driver’s cab, in which there are two additional seats. In the rear body, there are two extinguishing agent tanks – a 4,000-l water tank and a 240-l foam concentrate tank – both equipped with electronic level indicators. The installed Ruberg EH30 pump achieves a capacity of 2,000 l per minute at 10 bar in low-pressure operation and 250 l per minute at 40 bar in high-pressure operation. For quick deployment, the vehicle is equipped with a high-pressure hose reel (60 m DN25 hose) and a Protek 236 spray lance.

Equipped down to the last detail.

Six lockable equipment cabinets - three on each side of the vehicle - offer sufficient space for rescue tools. An automatic high-pressure underbody protection, a front spray bar, a RAMSEY cable winch (traction force: 50.7 kN), a powerful roof monitor, an extendable light tower and a camera system for all-round monitoring of the vehicle provide additional operational capability.
