Retrofit the Econic with Sideguard Assist and SurroundView.
The Econic from Mercedes-Benz combines efficiency, ergonomics, safety and environmental friendliness in a single vehicle. The modern low-entry concept, the safety-enhancing panoramic glazing and resource-sparing, economical diesel and natural gas drive systems make this Special Truck one of the big heroes of daily operations in present-day traffic conditions.
From the Econic's very beginnings, the topic of safety has always held pride of place: the low seating position of the driver, the low-drawn panoramic windscreen and the fully glazed folding door on the co-driver's side all offer an excellent view of the traffic conditions. Besides the standard Active Brake Assist emergency braking system, Sideguard Assist and Surround View round off the perfect and modern technology installed in the Special Truck. And the best thing about it is: the Econic can now also be retrofitted with these two safety systems. As can the Mercedes-Benz Actros, Arocs, Antos and Atego trucks. At Mercedes-Benz Trucks, safety doesn't depend on the model series.

Rapid danger detection: Sideguard Assist.
Every truck accident is one too many. Particularly in city traffic, drivers need to be especially vigilant of endangered road users such as pedestrians or cyclists. The safety assistance systems from Mercedes-Benz don't just help to quickly recognise dangers, but also to avoid these and thus save lives.
Econic models suitable for retrofitting.
The retrofit solution for Sideguard Assist is available for left-hand-drive vehicles from 02.2017 and for right-hand-drive vehicles from 08.2017. For binding information as to whether your vehicle can be retrofitted, please ask your Mercedes-Benz partner.
Sideguard Assist reliably warns the Econic driver both visually and audibly of any dangers when turning off in critical situations with reduced visibility, thus providing valuable seconds in which the driver can react. A further big advantage in favour of Sideguard Assist: it takes into account the entire path of the semitrailer and thus warns of any possible risk of collision with stationary obstacles whilst also assisting the driver with lane changes.
