Mercedes-Benz Econic: low-entry design allows firefighters to act quickly.
Whether as a fire-fighting vehicle, turntable ladder, an aerial rescue platform, implement or rescue vehicle – the Mercedes-Benz Econic provides all options for an ideally equipped fire-fighting vehicle. State-of-the-art drive technology and the low-entry concept swiftly get the driver and team to the location.
A choice of low or high cabs.
The Econic comes with two cab options ex factory. In conjunction with the high-roof cab and a pneumatic, fully-glazed folding co-driver's door, the team can safely and comfortably step forwards out of the vehicle dressed in their protective clothing and already equipped with their breathing apparatus. This is a truly unrivalled safety aspect in daily operations.
With its low-roof cab and thus low overall height, the Econic provides space for up to two firefighters and is a perfect choice for conversion as an aerial rescue vehicle. With a DLA (K) 23/12 standard turntable ladder, the permissible norm value of 3.30 m for the overall vehicle height is maintained without problem.
Quickly on the spot.
The low-entry design is the essential advantage for swift operation. With only one step, embarking and disembarking is swift and safe – both when initially departing and during operations. This makes the Econic unbeatable and on a busy day saves the driver hundreds of metres climbing up steps compared with other trucks. The Econic also bears the same genes as the latest Mercedes-Benz Trucks model range. These include a robust chassis and efficient, clean yet powerful Euro VI engines.
The powerful engines with high torque at low revs take the Econic swiftly to its destination. Its compact dimensions together with the fully automatic Allison gearbox and optional safety features such as the rear-view camera make even manoeuvring in cramped inner-city conditions easy and contribute considerably to its success in operation.
