The biggest advantage of the Unimog is its flexibility. As a road-railer, it can easily switch between rail and road. And can therefore quickly get to the right place. A major German steel manufacturer relies on a Unimog U 423 with an efficient Euro VIe engine and 170 kW output. Thanks to the torque converter clutch, the Unimog can start off on its own wheels without wear and tear and, with its wagon braking system, serves as an economical shunting vehicle for trailer loads of up to 600 t. The vehicle is also used for a wide range of tasks in the care and maintenance of the track infrastructure. With its up to 4 implement and body spaces and powerful implement drives, the Unimog is predestined for a wide range of tasks.

The Unimog manoeuvres in road-rail operations with a high tractive force of up to 1,000 t towed load. This is possible thanks to the torque converter clutch, permanent all-wheel drive, compact axles and drive via the truck’s own wheels. The fully-fledged rail vehicle is flexible at all times thanks to the quick transition between rail and road – not least because the Unimog is full of possibilities that go far beyond shunting: Its attachment and body mounting spaces as well as the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic interfaces make it ideal for a wide range of tasks in the maintenance and repair of the rail infrastructure.
