The Unimog carries out cleaning operations on urban rail networks with tight curve radii particularly economically. The Unimog’s implement-carrying properties are particularly in demand with this vehicle. Both the two circuits of the working hydraulics as well as circuits 3 and 4 of the power hydraulics available ex works are used here, e.g. to drive a high-pressure water pump for removing tough deposits from grooved rails at up to 500 bar, the filter system for treating the sucked-up dirty water and for the brushes for gently cleaning the rail head. The working speed required depending on the degree of dirt is achieved with the Unimog's working and crawler gears. Other plus points: the quick transfer from road to rail, speeds of up to 89 km/h and the long range thanks to water recycling.

The water tank with a capacity of 2100 l and the stainless steel waste container with a capacity of 4 m³ ensure exceptionally long operating times. The efficiency of CMAR's rail cleaning system has been proven for several years. It has proven itself in France, amongst other countries.
The origins of the family business date back to 1956, when the RIVARD family became a Mercedes-Benz Unimog dealer. CMAR was thus one of the first two Unimog dealers in France. CMAR (Construction Mécanique Automatisé Rivard) has been a manufacturer of special vehicles for over 25 years with around 50 employees on a 20,000 m² industrial site in Durtal in the French department of Maine et Loire and is a certified UnimogPartner of Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks.

The Unimog manoeuvres in road-rail operations with a high tractive force of up to 1,000 t towed load. This is possible thanks to the torque converter clutch, permanent all-wheel drive, compact axles and drive via the truck’s own wheels. The fully-fledged rail vehicle is flexible at all times thanks to the quick transition between rail and road – not least because the Unimog is full of possibilities that go far beyond shunting: Its attachment and body mounting spaces as well as the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic interfaces make it ideal for a wide range of tasks in the maintenance and repair of the rail infrastructure.
