Unimog Magazine:
September 2018 issue.

Vehicle concept for extreme applications.

Fire services are suffering from the effects of climate change too. Missions are becoming ever more difficult. The vehicles' technology has to keep pace. That is just one of a number of reasons the Kirchzarten fire service opted for an extreme off-roader in the form of the Unimog. In the Unimog Magazine 1/2018, the first live exercise is being featured.

"Bimodal operation at Daimler"
At the Bremen car plant of Daimler AG, a U 423 handles all the marshalling work, rendering a locomotive superfluous.

"Brine spraying – without salt"
How do you prepare a rally-cross circuit for racing? That question was answered by a U 530, though actually configured for winter road clearing duties.

"Always a bit more extreme"
In rural Thuringia, special Unimog models for rallying, recreation and expeditions are designed and built. The Hellgeth brothers can do (almost) anything.

"No crane, no building"
Walter Lüer specialises in construction crane logistics. Without the Unimog none of his cranes would get on the site.

"An all-rounder for all year round"
Unimog Magazine accompanied contractor Daniel Linder as he went about his core business, transporting hay. But his new U 430 also has to carry out mulching in summer and spray brine.

"Tension on the job"
Power company Netze BW relies on a number of Unimog models in its overhead cabling operations – the U 5023 for pylon erection on rough terrain and the U 530 to handle routine maintenance work.

"Marking a quarter of a century"
In June the Unimog Club Gaggenau celebrated its 25th anniversary. The attendees enjoyed an exciting programme of events.
