The implement carrier characteristics of the Unimog are of great importance with this new vehicle concept. Both of the Unimog's working hydraulics circuits as well as circuits 3 and 4 of the power hydraulics VarioPower®(available ex factory) are used here, for instance for driving a high-pressure water pump with up to 500 bar to remove obstinate deposits on the grooved rails, the filter system to treat the waste water as well as for the brushes for gentle cleaning of the rail head. Depending on the degree of dirt involved, the correct working speed is achieved by the working gears or the crawler gears of the Unimog. Other advantages: fast on and off-tracking from road to rails, speeds of up to 90 km/h and its great autonomy thanks to water recycling.

The Unimog manoeuvres in road-rail operations with a high tractive force of up to 1,000 t towed load. This is possible thanks to the torque converter clutch, permanent all-wheel drive, compact axles and drive via the truck’s own wheels. The fully-fledged rail vehicle is flexible at all times thanks to the quick transition between rail and road – not least because the Unimog is full of possibilities that go far beyond shunting: Its attachment and body mounting spaces as well as the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic interfaces make it ideal for a wide range of tasks in the maintenance and repair of the rail infrastructure.
