Transmission.
The Zetros has permanent all-wheel drive with two-stage transfer case and mechanical interaxle lock. The robust manual transmission, which comes as standard, enables simple operation and offers high traction - both on the road and off-road. In addition, the differential locks in the transfer case and axles prevent individual wheels from spinning on uneven or slippery terrain.
Transfer case.
The VG 2800 3W two-speed transfer case is a perfect match for the Zetros engine. The lockable speed compensation (interaxle lock) ensures safe driving characteristics on the road and optimum traction off-road. The switchable off-road ratio of i = 1.45 provides sufficient traction when driving on steep ramps or on difficult terrain.
Fully automatic Allison 4500 SP.
Available in conjunction with 4x4 and 6x6 all-wheel drive, optional with retarder and power take-off.
The Zetros 4x4 and 6x6 are optionally also available with the Allison 4500 SP fully automatic transmission for uninterrupted off-road driving power and maximum operating comfort. Equipped with a converter, shift operations take place automatically, eliminating the need to engage the clutch, which would lead to an interruption in the traction. Changing the six gears is therefore also possible in critical off-road sections such as uphill slopes and soft sand without risking getting stuck. In addition, the driver is completely freed up and can devote his full attention to the transport task, the vehicle's surroundings and traffic conditions.
As an option, the 4500 SP fully automatic transmission can be equipped with a retarder, which provides a braking torque of up to 2,710 Nm and thus also safely brakes heavy vehicles on long downhill gradients.
There is also a choice of various transmission power take-offs, which can provide a maximum output of up to 71 kW with different gear ratios. The use of the power take-offs while driving also enables functions such as pump-and-roll, i.e. spraying can take place while the vehicle is moving, an important function for fire and rescue.

Braking.
Drum brakes ensure good, lasting braking performance even when used in rough terrain. Their closed design reliably protects against moisture and dirt and thus also reduces maintenance work. The standard anti-lock braking system (ABS) increases road safety and ensures driving stability even during critical braking procedures. The ABS can be switched off manually to maintain flexibility.

Steering.
The hydraulic 1-circuit power steering on the Zetros ensures optimum contact between the vehicle and the carriageway. The reinforced steering gear is optimally designed for heavy loads and use on poor roads. The variable gear ratio significantly reduces manual forces when manoeuvring and off-road, thus also contributing to the excellent handling of the vehicle.

The Zetros frame concept is based on the Arocs ladder-type frame for the construction industry, with open C-section longitudinal and crossmembers. The wall thickness of the frame is 9 mm. This already very stable frame is additionally reinforced on the Zetros with internal reinforcing brackets 6 mm thick. The axles met the highest demands for high load-bearing capacity, robust construction and long service life.
