Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks shows performance with ease at Agritechnica.

Your everyday life is our inspiration. At Agritechnica 2023 in Hanover, Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks will be presenting its latest highlights for the agricultural sector. First and foremost, the revamped Unimog operating system UNI-TOUCH®, which will go into series production from 2024 and offer users a whole new level of flexibility. Also on show at the fair will be a Unimog U 535 with tractor type approval and plenty of horsepower under the bonnet, as well as a Unimog U 530 with the powerful hydro-spring technology. This concentrated power awaits interested visitors on 387 square metres of exhibition space at Stand D38 in Hall 6.

More power for heavy equipment.

You want a high Unimog engine for the heavy weight segment with permitted gross weights of up to 16.5 t? Coming right up, because you're not alone in that. The Unimog U 535 exhibited at Agritechnica packs more than 260 kW (354 hp) of power, so that you can also operate power-hungry implements, such as a wood chipper, thanks to the mechanical rear PTO for taking full engine power.

With approval as a tractor or according to EU type approval for high-speed tractors (official designation: T1b), the Unimog benefits from tax and toll exemptions, exemption from the EC control device and driver card, and exemption from the driving ban on Sundays and public holidays. Limited to 60 km/h, a tractor driving licence is sufficient to drive the Unimog.

However, the Unimog U 535 is not only strong in the field, it also puts its horsepower on the road at up to 89 km/h. At Agritechnica, you can also expect numerous other features such as the EasyDrive synergetic drive system, which enables a quick change between the manual transmission and hydrostat for stepless driving up to 50 km/h, as well as the Work mode, which adapts to your personal working speed, and the tyre pressure control system tirecontrol plus, which supports driving and working that is gentle on the ground.

Stable but flexible: the new hydro spring.

The Unimog U 530 demonstrates how you can make your work operations more efficient and more comfortable at the same time with the newly developed hydro-pneumatic suspension on the rear axle, which Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks presented to the public just a few months ago at the Demopark trade fair. The so-called hydro spring is a suspension system based on gas accumulators and hydraulic cylinders instead of the usual coil springs and is available for the U 400 and U 500 series as an additional option.

The special suspension provides a more stable ride by keeping the vehicle frame steadily at the same height regardless of the payload and its position – advantages that are particularly effective with high support and rear axle loads and with one-sided loads caused by wide-spreading implements. In addition, the hydro spring enables faster implement changes, at the touch of a button: from the driver's cab, the height of the vehicle frame can be lowered by up to 16 cm to simplify and speed up coupling and uncoupling.

The Unimog U 530 on display with mower combination from Krone shows how the hydro spring works in agricultural applications: it has front and rear power lift with lifting gear control, front PTO and mechanical rear PTO to take full engine power, EasyDrive, tyre pressure control system and high ground clearance. The user can connect additional components via ISOBUS. The cooler can be cleaned quickly with the Cleanfix function, even after dusty work. On top of that, the Unimog's outstanding road capability keeps you in control even during hectic harvesting times.
